I HATE BC

NOT! Actually, if there ever was a reason to hate my new home, British Columbia (The Best Place on Earth, in case you haven't seen the license plate), it was because of this recent blast of cold weather that blew in from Saskabush. Yes, BC got quite the dump of snow this week, followed by chilling winds.

Shit Happens

I've begun to notice things like dog pee in frozen snowbanks and people walking around the mall in gum boots, which have reminded me of one thing... actually two things... 1) Saskatchewan, and 2) this terribly neglected blog.

I really care about one of these things so I've cobbled together a short post highlighting the differences between BC and SK when it comes to wintery things:

Wind Chill
BC: Wind what?
SK: The difference between wearing 3 or 4 layers of clothes

Snow
BC: A day off work! Sweet!
SK: Better shovel my walk before the city fines me

Ice
BC: What you see when you look out your window
SK: What you see on the inside of your window

Environment Canada Weather Warning
BC: You take your umbrella going to work
SK: You take your life into your hands going to work

Coarse Salt
BC: Used for seasoning fine food
SK: Used for seasoning fine driveways

Winter
BC: 3 months you don't have to mow your lawn
Sask: 7 months of your life you'll never get back

As much as the weather sucks. Keep in mind. You got to worry about earthquakes, heavy rain, and driving down steep hills.

B.C sucks because of the HST. I'll bet it's a bitch to find a job there.

Saskatchewan is like a landfill. Leaves a foul smell encompassing everything.

"Saskatchewan is like a landfill. Leaves a foul smell encompassing everything."

No, you just forgot to shower again that day.

People who bash other provinces need to get out more often and do something constructive instead of living in a narrow mind.

Yes tell it like it is...

I wonder if the prima donna author realizes that Saskatchewan's average weekly wage is now higher than BC's?

"Wow! Did Sarcan unionize or something?"

No, but they did outsource some of their menial labour to BC.

Droughts? Flash flooding? Failed crops? Tornados? Grasshoppers? Mosquitos? Searing heat? Saskatchewan has it's own set of problems. Yes we have earthquake risks and one will come along that does catastrophic damage. But the same can be said about Saskatchewan if the crops fail or have serious tornados or flooding. No one gets off Scot free

NWT also has a high average income. Usually you have to pay a premium to get people to live in places that others do not want to.
Although this blog is tittled " I hate Saskatchewan" you must also know that Vancouver has been rated in the top ten places to live (Mercer corporate survey). From May to September, one of the driest cities in Canada. (Whitehorse #1) As for the riot, the year before Vancouver, the Lakers fans rioted in LA, the year before that, Boston baseball fans rioted. I don't know what that has to do with how liveable a city is?

To the Author:

BC is a beautiful province.... however, it (like everywhere else) has it's share of shit-holes. If East Hastings isn't a shit-hole then I don't know what is.

I've traveled all over the world, and been to every major city in Canada and the US. I live in Saskatchewan. Funny enough my girlfriend is from BC, she actually moved here believe it or not.... I agree it's weird.

Every place has its good and bad. I agree with you that the mentality and political leadership in this province can get extremely frustrating (actually will drive a sane person insane). I'm very open when I say, the leadership in this province (and country) pisses me off on a daily basis.

Geographically speaking, it is quite flat, but if you have ever bothered to travel up north you'll find it's quite beautiful and full of amazing wildlife. Definitely not as nice as BC, nobody can argue that.

As far as Saskatoon goes, the weather sucks half the year, then is amazing the other half. The downtown needs a pick-me-up and yes the drivers are terrible. These are all facts about Saskatoon. But it is still a nice city to live in. I look at it as a good home-base. It is extremely young, but has a lot of potential and job opportunities.

Canada is a very young country altogether. Going to cities in the UK, Spain, Germany or even some major cities in the US blows any Canadian city experience out of the water. There's a history in some places you just don't get here in Canada. There are a lot of amazing things you don't get in BC that you can get elsewhere. Public transit in Germany is a hell of a lot more efficient than the transit in Vancouver. Does that mean Vancouver sucks? No, it just means one country has progressed further than the other in certain areas. These progressions generally come with time and a growth in population.

All i see in this blog is some entitled little pussy bitching and whining. Did someone beat the shit out of you here or something? If you actually were worth anything, you'd focus your energy trying to make Saskatchewan better instead of ridiculing it and it's citizens. Your type, a negativity focused individual that hides behind a computer screen, is just as big of a problem than the obese wastes of skin stuffing mcdonalds in their face while riding their complimentary scooters at walmart (even though they are perfectly capable of walking). You're a big part of the epidemic that is a bane on our society. I'm not trying to be a dick, but go to a township in Africa like Soweto and tell me how much Saskatchewan sucks. You call the people here closed minded, when you're basing your whole blog on your experiences in other parts of Canada. Your opinion isn't justified when you have no other reference. There's a good reason people are immigrating here in droves.

Stop being a little bitch, if you have issues with the way a province is doing things then make your voice heard to those who can actually change something. If you just want to vent, you have the freedom to do so, but don't expect everyone to agree with you and your close minded opinions. Get the people of a province on your side instead of calling them stupid if you really want to see a change.

I like your blog, not because I agree with it, but because it made me write this long ass comment, which I guess in its own right it something, keep it up, but at the same time you sir can suck my dick.

Man, such an unnecessarilly long post, you do realize nobody is going to read the whole thing, all I read was "BC is a beautiful province... Suck my dick."

I hate BC and everything about it
It's people are very unfriendly, I am forced to smell forest fire smoke all summer long, I hate the the mountains I could go on an on. The people from Saskatchewan and Alberta are way more friendly. There's no smoke all summer and the temperature is 26 above out in the summer it's perfect. People complain about the winter being cold WE ARE CANADIAN WE ARE MADE FOR THE COLD!! so I would recommend before you start judging saskatchewan think about the shithole bc is.

Let's compare the state of a single street in BC (East Hastings) to the entire Province of Saskatchewan. Both are full of garbage, drunken lowlifes, and are a complete waste of effort trying to fix. The only real difference is that Hastings is a STREET while Saskatchewan is a PROVINCE. Have fun freezing, since it's almost the end of March you only have a few months to go!

If your current province is so great why do you spend so much time writing about a province in which you clearly did not enjoy or were unsuccessful making a happy life for yourself in. I think it is more to make yourself feel better about the bad decisions you have made in your lifetime. Simple as that, also goes for most of the people making negative comments in all of your posts. Everyone is in control of there own life and decisions. Unfortunately that means you have to live with every decision you make regardless of the negative or positive outcome.

I moved from Manitoba (about the same as Saskatchewan) to the Okanagan and I'm honestly not impressed. People in BC shit talk my hometown the instant I say I'm from Winnipeg, but then they brag about stuff that's better in Manitoba, like lakes and sunshine and the availability of local food. Yeah, the mountains are fun and winters aren't as cold, but apart from that it's 90% the same as Manitoba. People in BC can't afford to ski anyway because they have to spend all their money on housing, so the mountains don't make much difference. Same amount of snow every year, same temperatures from April through October, same number of people who bike instead of drive.

Also people here know nothing about Manitoba but spew their preconceived notions anyway. I keep telling people yeah, Winnipeg is cold in winter but hot in summer, up to 35 or 40 degrees, same as here. EVERY SINGLE PERSON I've met in BC is surprised at this. Bunch of dumbasses, not to mention really arrogant and rude. I'm going back to Manitoba.
